StepHunter

StepHunter puts the emphasis on providing an enjoyable news reading experience. This free application allows you to access all your news from a single location, read the news without being interrupted by annoying ads, filter your news stream, track a whole webpage for updates, and more. The application does a lot of things for free.

The StepHunter installer for Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8, is close to 15MB in size. On a high-speed internet connection, it will take little time to download it. Run the installer, click through the instructions presented by the setup wizard, and it will also take little time to install the application. Please note that the installer will offer to install a StepHunter extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

To get started with StepHunter, you must sign up first. You need only enter your email address, pick a password, and enter your name. Signing up will also take little time. After that you can set it so StepHunter will remember your login info and you can also set it so it will automatically log you in.

While StepHunter is running, you can see a doggy icon in the system tray. Right click it and you can access the application’s Control Panel, access the Settings menu, change the user, and view the StepHunter Newsfeed. The Newsfeed will open in your default browser – useful instructions on how to get started with StepHunter will be displayed onscreen. And speaking about useful instructions, after you’re done with the StepHunter installation process, you will be invited to view a User Guide with handy info on what the application does and how you can access this functionality.

Speaking about functionality, here’s a quick look at StepHunter’s main features: read news articles in the application’s ad-free interface, track whole pages for updates, share news with your friends, create your own topics, add any news blocks you want, filter your news stream, automatic sync across platforms.

At the time of writing this, StepHunter is still in Beta. The developer explained that a version for iOS and Android will be coming soon.
